B&B Accommodation on a working Farm.
As well as offering Luxury Accommodation, Dannah is still very much a Working Farm B&B. We are tenants of the Chatsworth Estates and farm around 155 acres at Dannah Farm. Situated just below Alport Heights, the Farm is 900 feet above sea level, and enjoys commanding views of the surrounding derbyshire dales countryside.
During the years as a farm B&B, we have had sheep and beef cattle and grown a variety of crops, from barley to linseed. Now our farm land is mainly down to grass, which is either made into hay or silage and sold, or used for grazing. Both Dannah and all the local farmland is crisscrossed with footpaths and Walks , alive with wildlife, and home to many wild birds. Buzzards, kestrels, snipe, lapwing, skylarks and a variety of owls can all be seen within our boundaries, and there are many resident badgers, foxes and hares.

Our own assorted “livestock”, a brace of adorable Kune-Kune pigs –Charming Andrew and Sally Long Legs, Meadowsweet hens and some very spoilt farm cats provide guests with much interest and entertainment. Sheep can be seen grazing in the fields all around, and in the spring the lambs are a real delight. Dannah Farm is very much a working farm B&B, and this adds to the charm of operating as a B&B. James our eldest son now takes care of running the farm side of Dannah Farm, as well as running an agricultural contracting business, leaving the rest of us free to concentrate on offering a superb and unforgettable B&B in the Derbyshire Dales. |
