Dannah Farm welcome you their Luxury B&B.
Dannah Farm is one of the finest Derbyshire B&B's. Joan, Martin and family moved into Dannah Farm in the winter of 1985, taking their first paying guests the following spring. They are tenants of The Chatsworth Estates, who own virtually the whole of Shottle.
In 1986 the embryonic Dannah Farm Country House consisted of three letting bedrooms, all sharing one bathroom, not even a private washbasin between them! The dining room was used as a lambing shed, and The Chatsworth Suite housed the pigs!
Since then with much re-furbishing and sympathetic converting, Dannah has gone from strength to strength, winning many awards along the way, and is now recognised as one of the most outstanding places to stay in the county. Indeed, Dannah Farm Country House is the only accommodation provider in Derbyshire with 5 Yellow Stars, Highly Commended, from the AA, and a Little Gem from the RAC!
Joan and Martin have 4 sons, now grown up and thankfully moved out, James, Ben, Thomas and Matthew. Susie, Bens wife helps manage Dannah Farm, ensuring its smooth running, doing much of the admin work and attending to her first love, the gardens. Our family business now has an age span of 0-90, as 5 of the next generation of Slacks have been born in the last three years. Joans father came to live at Dannah permanently in August 2009 and can generally be found sitting on the garden swing reading a paper or feeding the various animals around the farm.
Although very much a family concern with everyone involved at some level, a very loyal team of staff are on hand to help make sure that everything runs just as it should! Those of you who have been coming to Dannah Farm since the beginning will recognise many of our girls, and may even remember some working as young waitresses in the school holidays, now back part time after having families of their own.
Also part of the family or our two very good natured and very spoilt English Setters.
Jack and Chase are both Blue Belton English Setters, they both love everyone and are absolutely certain everyone loves them! If you have left your own best friend at home they would be delighted to take you for a walk.
Jack (aka Ravensett Dark Fire).
We have had many dogs over the yesar and had never been tempted to show our dogs, they are simply much loved pets. however... we somehow fell into showing Jack as a puppy with an impulse entry in a local Derby Kennel Association Show in Belper. Despite being told he had "knock knees", he won a second in Any Variety Gundog, and we were hooked!! Jack is a lovely natured dog, a complete showoff and, loves his showdays.
Chase (aka Ravensett Renaissance).
Jack has been joined by Chase half brother to Jack he is very cute and wilful and often tries to get the Jack into trouble. Martin has really been bitten by the showing bug, Chase now joins Jack on his away show days!
