The Family and Staff .... Joan, Martin and family moved into Dannah Farm in the winter of 1985, taking our first paying guests on the 21st March 1986. We are tenants of The Chatsworth Estates who own virtually the whole of Shottle. 
In 1986 the embryonic Dannah Farm Country House consisted of three letting bedrooms, all sharing one bathroom, without even a private washbasin between them! The dining room was used as a lambing shed, and The Chatsworth Suite housed the pigs!
Since then with much re-furbishing and sympathetic converting, Dannah has gone from strength to strength, winning many awards along the way, and is now recognised as one of the most outstanding places to stay in the county. Indeed, Dannah Farm Country House is the only accommodation provider in Derbyshire with 5 Yellow Stars, Highly Commended, from the AA, and a “Little Gem” from the RAC!
We have 4 sons, now grown up, James, Ben, Thomas and Matthew. There are now two junior Mrs Slacks, and Susie, Bens wife helps manage Dannah Farm, ensuring its smooth running, doing much of the admin work and attending to her first love, the gardens.
Although very much a family concern with everyone involved at some level, a very loyal team of staff are on hand to help make sure that everything runs just as it should! Those of you who have been coming to Dannah Farm since the beginning will recognise many of our “girls”, and may even remember some working as young waitresses in the school holidays, now back part time after having families of their own.
