Guest Book

We have been offering accommodation to guests since 1986 – a lifetime – and the hardest lesson we have had to learn is that it is simply not possible to please everyone all the time, or indeed have a fully functioning Dannah Farm perfect at all times on every occasion. Most of our wonderful guests know this and generously forgive our lapses! We really, genuinely, do try our very best to please and hopefully are able to give our guests a wonderful stay with memories to cherish.
Reviews are both terrific and terrifying at the same time! It’s a heart stopping moment when we see a new review has been published – did they like us – were we helpful/friendly/in the middle of a domestic???? Then - having made the decision to put reviews on our own website – should we just put on the good ones – include the not so good – banish the awful?? The decision is taken – we will go for “the good, the bad and the ugly” and let our guests – past, present and future decide for themselves!!!!
We have decided not to reply to individual reviews, believing it could be perceived as confrontational, of course we read them all, and really do welcome your thoughts, taking  notice of all the points you raise – good and bad! (For some of the issues which raise their head from time to time, e.g., charges for corkage an explanation can be found on our FAQ's page).
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to those who take the time and trouble to tell us what a lovely time they had, along with a genuine apology to those for whom the experience was not all they would have hoped for.

"A bit disappointing..."

What our guests have to say >>

We were really looking forward to this break after researching on TripAdvisor and looking on the Dannah Farm website. We were staying as a group of 5 - we are all spread out over the country and wanted to meet for a weekend get-together and Dannah Farm looked perfect. We were put in the Chatsworth Suite which sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms and has a communal living area.

We found the staff (owner?) rather brusque on arrival and after a long drive through winding lanes in the dark (this place is hard to find!) we would have appreciated a warmer welcome. One of our party had called for directions on the way having got lost in the nearest village, and found the owner extremely unhelpful.

The accommodation was nice although not really decorated to our taste as there are a lot of curtains/drapes everywhere and lots of 'knick knacks'...but that is just personal taste. The beds were comfortable. It was a bit inconvenient that the guests staying in one of the upstairs bedrooms had to go downstairs through the living area to use the bathroom as the upstairs bathroom was an ensuite to the other bedroom. From the website we expected a cosy living area where we could all sit and chat but unfortunately it wasn't like that at all. The living area had quite a cold feel with a stone floor and only had a sofa for 2 and a couple of rather uncomfortable chairs (so seating 4 all together), so we couldn't all sit down together. For that reason we spent most of our time away from Dannah Farm.

The place is very isolated so you can't walk to any pubs, restaurants etc. which is a shame. However we went to a pub about 10 minutes' drive away called The Hanging Gate where the food was good.

Breakfast at Dannah Farm was ok. The selection of cereals, jam, yoghurts etc was very good and they made their own bread but the cooked breakfast was disappointing. The breakfast room was also full of knick knacks and curtains everywhere. The staff that we came across were mostly quite unfriendly - not what you expect from a B&B!

Overall the title says it all - it just wasn't what we were expecting and we did leave feeling disappointed that we hadn't found the friendly, cosy and luxurious B&B we had been looking for.
