"Marvellous Mini-Moons"

Diary Entry Written by Joan: Aug 25 2011

We were delighted to be chosen to feature in “The White Weddings Magazine”, summer/autumn 2011 magazine. We have been offering a mini-moon package at Dannah for the last year or so and Emily Gravenor, the Editor, chose us to star in an article for these luxury mini-breaks which are proving more and more popular with newlyweds. Of course, guests enjoying the mini-moon at Dannah Farm Country House don’t have to be newly wed – they are equally popular for anniversaries, special birthdays, and even proposals!

Travel writer Matt Carrol who wrote about Dannah in an Observer article back in 2009 has featured Dannah as a place to stay as well as the start and finish point for one of his 60 stunning cycle rides in his new Escape Routes guide for cyclists.

"Escape Routes is a unique cycling guide that’s less about the destination and more about enjoying the journey there - and back. AA Inspection 2011 "Five Yellow Star Highly Commended."

Diary Entry Written by Joan: Jan 27 2011

Our inspection this year was a little different, as instead of one AA inspector we ended up with three! We were used by a senior AA inspector to help instruct two trainee AA inspectors! The experience was very interesting and also very successful, as once again we were awarded 5 yellow stars highly commended. These annual inspections are very valuable, both to us as providers of accommodation and also to the consumer. I know we always take into account the grading when we book a stay away, and I feel the AA really are the best in the field. After all, they have had lots of experience, having been inspecting places to stay since the 1909 AA guidebook!!

New Website for James Farm Contracting

Diary Entry Written by Joan: Dec 22 2010

Joan and Martins eldest son, James, runs the farming side of Dannah Farm and his new website was launched just before Christmas. Still very much a working farm, and an important part of "Dannah", we all felt that a website was long overdue. The site details the services James is able to offer to local farmers as well as providing his youngest brother Matthew hours of entertainment designing the site and playing with the graphics!!! Have a look at www.jimslack.co.uk and see what you think.

TV Advert Filmed at Dannah

Diary Entry Written by Joan: May 20 2010

Imagine our surprise to wake up one Thursday morning in June to find a helicopter, wind machine, actors, extras, camera men etc etc wandering around in one of our grassfields. On closer inspection it turned out to be a film crew filming a scene for a new McDonalds advert who had inadvertently wandered into our field. They needed long  grass waving in the wind and our field provided the best effect for the wind scene for their new advert. In the advert the helicopter was also used for a beautiful aerial shot with Dannah Farm star of the scene.
